Additional Info: If you are an English, Journalism or Social Studies teacher, we are available to visit your class and discuss our observations of the Iraq War and the Vietnam War. English teachers that have selected ‘The Things They Carried’ by Tim O’Brien have used us to help their students get a clearer understanding of being in a war. Each speaker has a personal sense of what has occurred to him/her and their buddies, but, we all agree that politicians seldom have the experience and understanding of what a young person feels when ‘put in harm’s way’.

Additional Info: CCMR sees "counter-recruitment" work as a way to provide young people with information they need about military service. While respecting a young person’s right to chose for themselves, CCMR believes that those considering military enlistment often need more complete information to counter the inflated promises of military recruiters.

Additional Info: Oklahoma is already a vast recruitment center, especially for the Army and the Air Force, with 4 military bases including: Tinker Air Force Base, Fort Sill, Vance Air Force Base, and Altus Air Force Base. Oklahoma youth are confronted at every turn by recruiters. It is our philosophy to use this large recruitment base against the recruiters with direct action.

Our mission is to inform, educate, and encourage students to think about their choices and make informed decisions. We also train activists in other areas of Florida in achieving access to schools and effectively carrying the message about military recruiters' mis-information, dis-information, and omission of facts about military enlistment and life before, during and after military service.
