NNOMY Volunteer and Internship Inquiries

NNOMY receives occasional requests by individuals who wish to participate in youth demilitarization activism.  There are many ways to contribute to counter military recruitment efforts, or more broadly, youth demilitarization activism. Our volunteers work in close coordination with individuals who carry long-standing experience and deep-rooted commitments in this field. This collaboration requires a careful balance: meeting project deadlines for campaigning and resource development while remaining attentive to the cultural sensitivities and tensions that surround counter militarization work.

You should also make a personal assessment whether your personal skills and temperament can enhance NNOMY's activism. There are many areas of contribution needed from administrative tasks, research and data collection to creative offerings such as authoring articles or providing artistic support for informational graphics and videos for public outreach depending upon your skill level and knowledge of the issues.

Lastly, use your role contributing to NNOMY to challenge your curiosity and maintain your interest and engagement in the work. This will ensure a more rewarding experience and offer the NNOMY Network a higher quality of resources from your efforts.

Please answer the questions as best you can to offer our staff a clearer understanding of who you are and why you wish to contribute to this essential activism in a time of escalating U.S. militarism.

NNOMY Internship

IMG_1075

The National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth (NNOMY) offers unpaid internships designed to support academic curriculum requirements and provide meaningful experience in youth demilitarization advocacy.

In addition to the current listings on our Internship Opportunities page, we welcome proposals for original internship projects that align with NNOMY’s mission. If your research or creative approach offers new insights into counter-recruitment or youth-focused peace activism, we encourage you to include a brief proposal in your letter of inquiry to our steering committee.

Please note: NNOMY is a national advocacy network that collaborates with peace and demilitarization groups across the country. Our work is political in nature and often controversial in its stance. Interns should be prepared to engage with challenging topics and contribute to campaigns that confront militarism in education and public life.

Apoye nuestro trabajo a nivel nacional

Your donation works to balance the military's message in our public schools.

The National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth works to balance the message of military recruiters in our public schools where minors are recruited and subjected to multiple programs of the Department of Defense. Making a financial contribution supports NNOMY's national demilitarization work with activist organizations inside middle and high schools. This strategic peace work needs to be coordinated on a national level in order to effectively fulfill this mission and NNOMY is the only entity in the USA that performs a national networking role for counter-recruitment and youth demilitarization work.
